Buhari reinforces military presence in N-Delta over pipeline attacks

Determined to end oil theft and vandalism of oil and gas pipelines in the Niger Delta region, President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, in Abuja announced the deployment of military and task forces to the region, Vanguard reports.

Another reason for the deployment of troops, the president said, was to stop the kidnapping  of citizens for ransom in the coastal areas of the country.

President Buhari made the disclosure at a meeting with a delegation from the  United States Institute of Peace in his office at the Presidential Villa. He assured the delegation that the task forces, coupled with his administration’s ongoing war against corruption, will be executed within the ambit of the law.
